THE PINOCCHIO FOUNDATION IN VENEZUELA
Established in 1987, IN CHRIST Ministries, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit non-denominational religious charitable organization whose mission in Central Florida and internationally is to help disadvantaged children to access opportunities for maximum growth intellectually and spiritually. Since 1998, IN CHRIST Ministries, Inc. has been the sole source of support for a small group home for homeless, abandoned and orphaned children in Venezuela, entitled, The Pinocchio Foundation. This home receives licensing by the Tribunal of Child Protective Services in the city of San Cristóbal in the State of Táchira.
The living conditions of these children prior to the In Christ Ministry facility are indescribable. The Venezuelan government doen not permit us to give the details publicly.
These street children have been surviving on the edge of society for a while but the intensified and worsening below poverty living conditions of the 1990's pushed them into the streets in ever increasing numbers, making them more vulnerable to physical and sexual abuse, substance abuse, crime, labor exploitation, malnutrition, disease and death.
Our children were fleeing abuse on the streets and looking for food and shelter when we found them. They had parasites, and various addictions and malnutrition problems. Because of this, their growth has been stunted. Some have learning disabilities while others are somewhat emotionally disturbed. We are providing them with psycological care. They are also receiving physician supervised medical attention and excellent spiritual ministry from their local Pastor.
IN CHRIST Ministries, Inc. is working as quickly as possible to establish a comprehensive facility that allows us to care for larger numbers of Venezuelan street children that will keep them off the streets and out of danger. Note: We are not an adoption agency therefore, no child at the Foundation can ever be adopted through IN CHRIST Ministries, Inc.
